When I first try things I like to pick up a sampler or a variety pack. Check out the flavours, the colours, the sizes… and because of that I tend to make mixes available in my shop. I have a cane sampler, the mix of tiny flowers above, and several colour blocked sculpted bead mixes. I have a few more ideas for samplers and mixes ahead to help folks try out polymer clay beads and canes. New to clay customers are still one of the largest groups of buyers I find.

When I explain how I do my clay work I hit that bit of technical explanation that is canes. The concept is both wonderfully simple but also potentially mind meltingly complex. And making canes can be a lot of tedious work. I make a lot of them because it’s the part of the work I enjoy the most but I know that a lot of smart people want to get down to making the stuff you use canes ON and so they buy the canes I make.
I’ve had a listing for a sample sized box of cane pieces in my shop for years and this picture is a little out of date – it’s from 8 or 9 years ago – but it captures the feeling. I have to mock up a new shot with the current offerings but hey… if you want to try using canes on your work, let me help you out.
