The Bead Soup Reveal

Bead Soup Beads

My challenge with this bead soup blog hop was to take this lovely soup and make it into jewellery. As I posted on my Facebook, this CAN’T be work can it? But I’m lucky and it is a part of my work to play with beads. And Judith Johnston’s beautiful lampwork certainly made the project easy.

Fancier

I started with this piece, pairing the clasp, one of the focals and a handful of the accent beads with silver wire and chain. The piece is lovely – yeah, my ego is healthy, no issue there – and the beads have a nice weight to them, something I don’t often get with polymer clay.

Casual Piece

I made myself a quick little casual piece to wear to a family bbq. I picked a few of the accent beads and one of the lentils and wired them into a leather necklace. Voila! Fun and more casual.

I still have stacks of pretty beads left to play with since my partner was so generous. The other focal is sitting on my bead board waiting for friends to show up from my stash.

Judith, my partner, is based out of the United Kingdom. She sells on Etsy, blogs, Facebooks and has a twitter account. I’m off to visit her first!

  1. Beautiful, I love what you did with these lamp work beads. I too make beads with PC and I agree about the ‘weight’ issue. Great soup!

  2. Oh, my – you call this casual? This is a godess’ necklace, absolutely stunning. Sometimes less is more and simple is elegant, and this is one of those times!
