My challenge with this bead soup blog hop was to take this lovely soup and make it into jewellery. As I posted on my Facebook, this CAN’T be work can it? But I’m lucky and it is a part of my work to play with beads. And Judith Johnston’s beautiful lampwork certainly made the project easy.
I started with this piece, pairing the clasp, one of the focals and a handful of the accent beads with silver wire and chain. The piece is lovely – yeah, my ego is healthy, no issue there – and the beads have a nice weight to them, something I don’t often get with polymer clay.
I made myself a quick little casual piece to wear to a family bbq. I picked a few of the accent beads and one of the lentils and wired them into a leather necklace. Voila! Fun and more casual.
I still have stacks of pretty beads left to play with since my partner was so generous. The other focal is sitting on my bead board waiting for friends to show up from my stash.
Judith, my partner, is based out of the United Kingdom. She sells on Etsy, blogs, Facebooks and has a twitter account. I’m off to visit her first!

So wonderful colours – I agree: it’s an easy job to work with such aweful beads, but you’ll have to have the right sense to put them in scene. You did it!
I love what you did with my beads, such beautiful necklaces!
Thank you very much for being my partner, I have had such fun.
Elaine,
I really like both necklaces, but the one with the leather is my favorite.
Stunning!
Love your work ^_^
…It is strange that using the focals this way would have never occured to me ? Overlooking the obvious, I figure. XD
Amazing work – the greens and blues just pop
Very pretty! You got a nice soup mix. Enjoy the hop!
That first necklace is absolutely gorgeous! What a show-stopper with all the lucious beads and sterling. And I love that you were able to make a fun necklace for yourself.
Beautiful designs – such cool, clean colors!
I love the simple elegance of your pieces! Beautiful lampwork!
Thank you so much for participating, and I hope you’ll come back in the winter!
What a pile of beautiful!
I love both of these pieces!
Great lampwork beads and you put them to use so elegantly!
Those beads are to die for. Do you think Lori would let me request Judith as my partner next soup??? lol 😉
You did a wonderful job….nice pieces!
Beautiful beads and a great job putting them together!
beautiful palette you got, really nice pieces, so cool & summery
I think you need to ask! She’s super talented!
Beautiful design. Love the color palette you used. And your photography is great!
Your necklace is elegant! Very nice job!
super work! And I don’t find the first necklace all that formal. Love it!
Beautiful pieces – both of them!
Beautiful necklaces – love the colours and those focals are lovely =)
The focals are so pretty! I really like your simple, yet elegant designs!
ooh, so pretty! those beads are just gorgeous. they shine in the treatment you gave them.
I love the simple beauty of this necklace. Way to go!!!
my favorite colors! LOVE your piece – it is gorgeous
I like the casual version of your necklace, I would not have thought to put lampwork beads and leather together but they look really nice!
Very pretty! Love the colors of your soup!
Lovely piece. Great soup and the colors are awesome.
Love your necklaces. I prefer the more casual one, but both are beautiful. It should be a crime that making jewelry is so much fun but I’m sure glad its not! Great job!
P.S.: Can’t wait to receive my bead order.
Lovely colors and such an elegant design! Have a great day 😉
So pretty!!! I favor the second, more casual necklace, too, but they are both beautiful.
I love the pieces you created… very beautiful.
Very pretty!
Both pieces are just lovely! I especially like the second necklace because I can picture wearing it to a BBQ or to work or where ever.
Wonderful pieces, the colors are lovely!
WOW!! That is a LONG list of participants! What great fun!
The lamp work is amazing and you did a great ‘job’ ! It’s a really nice necklace, nicely made!
I agree that working with those beads is not work. You did a beautiful job with beautiful beads. I reveal during the second reveal.
you did a great job, and you are so right, that soup would make working with them tons of fun!!
Such a great soup with beautiful colors. I especially love the simplicity of the second necklace.
Sweet necklaces! Love them both!
Very pretty focal, lovely soup. Dainty necklace and great bracelet.
Both pieces are absolutely lovely, but I really like the one on leather, would be a great casual piece.
Nice! I like that you made something casual, and also more formal, using the same colours and almost the same beads. Great job!
what a gorgeous bead soup you received!!! you really did a good job with the beads… it’s something i could see myself wearing on happy days!!
Very pretty necklaces! It’s fun to have a change up from polymer with glass and/or stones with more heft
What gorgeous lampwork beads! You set them off beautifully.
Beautiful work inspired by beautiful beads!
You definitely have reason to have a healthy ego. Both of those are perfection! I only hope I can turn my soup ingredients into something as lovely in the few weeks I have left. Thank you for the inspiration and the kick in the butt! 🙂
Wow those were some beautiful beads. I would have made myself something too. You made two beautiful pieces! Such lovely peaceful colors.
