The Summer of 2011

What can I say? It has been a crazy, summery summer. The studio has been a busy place but I’ve been neglecting my online world in order to catch up on the rest of it. We capped our summer off with a mini-vacation bracketed by two family weddings. This means we did Saskatoon, Calgary, the Okanagan, Calgary, Swift Current in 10 days – some 2000 miles, in total. After dropping the kiddo off in Calgary with her grandparents we hit the transcanada again and headed west.

Drive

Driving west from Calgary means fabulous, fabulous views. To get to the Okanagan you go through national and provincial parks almost the whole way and our drive out was a little rainy and foggy so we literally drove through the clouds in many places.

The Village Cheese Company

Our trip to Kelowna was to go check out some of the wineries and other foodie locations. Along the way, you pass through Armstrong, the home of Armstrong Cheeses and the Village Cheese Company. Cheese is my favourite treat so this was a required stop.

The Red Wine Room

In Kelowna we took an arranged wine tour with Distinctly Kelowna Tours (their wine and, you guessed it, cheese one) and it was great. Our tour guide, Andrea, was friendly and fun. The next day we struck out on our own. We could have easily spent all day of all 3 days visiting wineries but we also took a little time to explore the city and the beach areas.

Back home now with tons of new ideas in my brain and looking forward to my fall rush.
