About The Products

A few notes about the items sold in my shop (and posted on my site):

Polymer Clay Canes

My canes are handmade by me. A lot of the designs are my own or my own variations on common ones released by other talented artists. I primarily use Premo! and old formula Fimo clays. I recommend baking at 275°F/130 °C for at least 30 minutes per quarter inch of thickness for pieces made with these canes. Underbaking, in terms of time or heat, can result in a finished item that is less strong.

Unless otherwise noted the canes are between 3/8″ & 1/2″ (8-12mm) in diameter and approximately 2″ (50mm) in length.

Polymer Clay Beads & Art Jewelry

All of my beads are made from Premo!, Fimo, Sculpey III or Kato clays. All are baked at least as long as manufacturer’s recommendations for maximum durability. Details on finish are included in the item description but typically include sanding, buffing and a finish.

Polymer clay beads are light and durable but will scratch if treated roughly. All art beads should be cleaned gently with a cloth or warm water and gentle soap. Hair sprays, perfumes and other chemicals should not come in contact with cured polymer clay – it could damage the finish. Apply them ahead of putting your jewelry on.

Polymer Clay Vessels

My vessels are typically clay over a glass surface – the clay is a thin veneer over a stable glass item. The glass former allows the vessel to function as a vase or dish safely but I still don’t suggest using clay covered items for regular food service. Instead, consider my bowls as trinket dishes, candy bowls or a perfect spot for other decorative items. A place to put your rings on your night stand or when you wash your dishes.

Where possible, I use recycled glass – interesting beverage bottles, older chipped vases and odd jars – for my work. A little upcycling is good for the environment.

All vessels should be washed by hand with gentle soap and warm water to avoid damaging the surface. Clay is non-toxic but it is not a food grade plastic.

Polymer Clay… Everything Else

I intend to showcase other clay items on here. Polymer clay is an incredibly versatile material. As with all my work, I strive to use the best materials and practices available to me in combination with my own designs and inspiration.
