The Shop: Black Friday Cyber Monday
Sometimes I wonder just where time goes. It’s the end of the fall already! Etsy has this big promotional holiday sale on for the American Black Friday through Cyber Monday weekend and I figured I’d take part by offering Free Shipping in my shops.
I loaded up my latest colour scheme this week – winterflower – which is a navy base with blue flowers. You can see it on a few of the beads in the bead shop or in the flowers in the cane shop:
And as always I’ve loaded everything up in my ArtFire shop just the same and it’s also got Free Shipping. ArtFire allows you to purchase without first creating an account so if you just want to zip in and scoop up some beads or canes, no fuss, no muss, it’s the place to go.
Local and need some other good deals? My teammates on the Alberta Team (which should really be the western Canada team by this point) are also offering some great holiday deals this weekend. You can check the list out on the team blog at:

Now, back to the last minute fixing for my show. I’m doing my regular show in Marlborough Community Hall in Calgary. The hitch? I’m not in Calgary! So I’ll be spending a day of my visit to the city doing the show because it’s my sentimental favourite. Come visit and I’ll give you free beads!
Not Just Beads
Sometimes I actually make things other than beads with the canes. Sometimes I make things with the beads. Of course, that’s usually right before shows but that’s the way it goes.
Marbly brown and pearl and gold beads wire wrapped the way I do a lot of my pieces.
Green caned beads on brass wire.
The prototype for a pen tray in ‘boy’ colours. I say boy colours because the boyfriend asked, mostly in fun, why I had all flowers. So here we go, brown tiles.
The last pieces are earrings on silver wire. Simple but it works.
The Shop: I Love Beads
Bet that comes as a shock huh? That I love beads I mean.
So have a gander, check out the new latte ones. Also available on my Artfire site.
New Colours
Wow! Crazy bead making week! But in with the tablespoon of crazy was a nice scoop of productive. I got the initial batches and photos of my latest two colour schemes setup.
This is latte, a sort of lighter version of my very popular coffee tones. It is all cream to dark brown, monochromatic so it should be an excellent neutral. It pairs well with the coffee tones, the crimsons and the sea garden colours right off which means I have some ’sperimenting to do.
Forest flowers is a remake of a batch that has sold out a few times on Etsy – forest green background with forest toned flowers all over it. The rusty coloured mum cane is still my favourite.
Weekend Whirlwind
I’m a big advocate for simple living and removing complications and clutter but sometimes, even with the best of intentions, life gets busy! This week the kid had extra catchup work at school and haunted house building and her first middle school party to work on. The boyfriend had extra work commitments. I have some large (yay!) orders pending and the regular insane fall shopping season online. Phew!
So because I’m supposed to be doing Other Things my creative side wants to do something else. I was playing with scraps and ways of shaping beads.
I did get one of the buckets done – sanded, buffed, glossed up and mostly photo and sorted. They WILL show up in my Etsy shop today and go out to their future homes in the mail this week. There is another tray in the mail right now. And another in progress behind me.
And the kiddo did make it out trick or treating and to her middle school dance. She was a cute little vampire and quite comically disappointed with the trick or treating results for doing a few houses here, in the small town, vs 10 city blocks. We fixed that by showing her how much was left from the bowl to give out. And no way I should be eating that much!
