Little Trips

I don’t know about other people but most of my trips start with a visit to the library to pick up reading material.

Books

After that we were off to Saskatoon – a city I’ve never been to, about 2 1/2 hours north of here – for a cousin’s wedding. The hotel room got some exploring and the beds got tested out.

Hotel Rooms

The day after the wedding and reception – which were lovely and quirky, kind of like the groom and bride – the kiddo dug into the newly acquired swimsuit and hopped in the hotel pool. This was her reward for patiently putting up with the drive out, the boring grownup church stuff and the boring grownup meal.

It was a little chilly when I got home and I found that the trees took that big turn. The leaves are dipping and turning yellow. Hello Autumn!

Fall Arrival

Old Habits

I have this nice office now with several tables devoted to crafts and other messy tasks. Instead I am making beads on one of my little cutting mats at my computer desk. Go figure.

The Brother

This summer I moved about 5 hours east to a small town well away from where my family lives. My brother came out to visit for the weekend.

Offerings

Being a smart man he brought me clay from the latest Michael’s sale. I remember the days when 5lbs of clay was a lot. But now it’s just a nice top up on my box.

The boyfriend and my brother, being men, decided they would get sledgehammers and pry bars and go help demolish the inside of a condemned house. The house was bulldozed today but the guys wanted to see if they could find any interesting oddities inside and there were all sorts of papers and boxes used in the walls that were from the 40s, 50s, 60s.

Video Game Geeks

Of course, part of the reason they get along – or we all do – is the video game hobby thing. Much of the weekend was spent eating yummy treats, playing games, relaxing and just goofing off.

Weekend Deals

Etsy has a weekly thing where sellers can chime in and offer to be part of the Weekend Deals. Some weekends it’s a discount, some it’s Free Shipping. This weekend, I’m participating and offering Free Shipping Everywhere in both of my shops, Claychicks & Tooaquarius.

Not to be outdone, I’m trying out the sales mode on Artfire – they don’t seem to have a batch shipping editor and I will try out the newly released coupon codes at some point. So, I’m offering 20% off everything in my ArtFire shop this weekend.

The Shop: Etsy Goodies

To get the ball rolling on the fall season I loaded my shops up with a bunch of new goodies! Some seasonal canes in the mix in my cane shop:

And a whole stack of beads in the bead shop:

I’ll let you in on the weekend plan: I signed up for Etsy’s Weekend Deals this weekend which means my Etsy shops will have Free Worldwide Shipping from Friday to the end of Sunday. My ArtFire shop will have 10% off deal in the shop as I don’t believe I can offer free shipping without manually editing items.

Making Things

Just a quick note that I’m busily cranking out pieces for the fall season, taking advantage of having my own little studio-cave (much less cavelike than you’d think, being in the basement!). Here is a round up of the canes on the way to my shops:

And now I get to hurry over to the bus stop to pick up my sixth grader. Not that she needs help getting home but it’s a nice break in the afternoon, especially while the weather is still beautiful. Have a fabulous Wednesday!

September Ambles In

School started last week which means that we are struggling to get back to the regular routine. Of course, with the move from the city to here, from primary to middle school, the new bus route, we have the next set of challenges. So far, so good though!

September didn’t seem to rush in but more of a leisurely ambling walk in. I’m starting off the fall with a final mad organization and cleaning run in the studio as the season kicks into high gear. First off, my shelf with labeled tubs (I can’t really justify all the pretty brightly coloured boxes and cute vintage tins I see – little plastic containers are my budget) for beads in ‘process’ and the ones that are listed for sale on Etsy and Artfire. Elsewhere in the studio are other tubs with other Me labels… Ship Me, Make Me, Order Me and so on.

Labels

This last flash-arific picture is a DVD rack I grabbed at the thrift store. I think it’s a wall mount rack. I’ve repurposed it into an earring rack on my jewelry & shipping table. The little silver one beside it is a CD rack that was damaged in the move. I may finish damaging it and turn it into another rack.

How’s everyone else’s September starting out?
